Understanding the Ethical Angle

Ethic~ n. set of moral principles, especially ones relating to or affirming a specific group, field, or form of conduct; relating to moral principles or the branch of knowledge.

Nowadays it is vital that we keep a strong head in the midst of chaos such as pandemics, civil unrest and violence. Ethical principles helps maintain balance moral order as well as a proper code of conduct. I research example of origins of ethical behavior, to have a better understanding of how ethics works as well as how ethical principles can be implemented into society 

To begin my search, I went to the Maker directory. From the “Maker directory”, I clicked under the “Education Maker” tab. I chose the education maker to see if any childhood lessons or the code of ethics were taught, discussed or learned by any makers. There was one maker named Bernice Hutcherson, who talks about her childhood during the Great Depression, she begins to discuss the financial hardships her parents had to endure in order to keep her family stable. In Hutcherson’s neighborhood many families were without food or other essential resources. Hutcherson’s father was fortunate enough to keep his job during the financial crisis, and because of the wages he earned, the Hutcherson family often invited less fortunate neighborhood families to eat with them.

Because of Ms. Hutcherson’s upbringing she became fascinated with helping others and made it her life’s goal to do so, she became a social worker to give needy people a fighting chance. Bernice Hutcherson and her family are a prime example of people with good moral ethics. By displaying compassion and upstanding character Bernice Hutcherson was able to use positive ethics throughout her life.

In all, my research of ethics I came to the realization that ethics can be best taught by ones experiences as well as influential people ones life. Ethical lessons our best received during childhood, as children are more impressionable. Childhood experiences and lessons has had the biggest impact on what positive and negative values of ethics people chose to apply in their lives.
