Excitement On the Horizon

This past Friday, my colleagues and I had a very refreshing meeting. Not only did we discuss how our week went, but we also shared our plans for programming at our respective institutions. I am very excited for the students at each school to attend our events throughout the year. They will become familiar with navigating the archive as well as expanding their knowledge on African American history.

In February, students will be able to participate in an enriching contest where prizes will be given. Speaking on my plan in particular, students will be tasked with taking a dive into the archive to learn about a variety of HistoryMakers. It is important that all categories are represented and acknowledged equally.

Further to my point of future excitement, homecoming at my school is slowly approaching. As of now, things are looking good to be able to have all the events planned in person. I am most excited about the football game since we are playing the highly sought after Jackson state. So far this season Alabaman A&M is undefeated.

Later this week, I will be blogging a synopsis of what I learned from Dick Gregory’s full story in the archive, so stay tuned!
