Holiday Greetings

Merry Christmas Eve! As I write this, it is 10:30 PM on December 24th in California, and I am finalizing all my presents and treats for family and friends. However, it is already December 25th in most of the world. People in Britain are just starting to wake up for their Christmas celebrations, while people on the island of Kiritimati are bringing their holiday celebrations to a close. Nonetheless, the Christmas season has been one of joy for people around the world.

Christmas has long been my favorite holiday. As a child, I loved the smell of the Christmas tree and wrapping presents. My parents never did Santa or Elf on the Shelf with me and my siblings, but I have always loved the spirit and ambience of Christmas.

This past fall quarter was my first quarter on campus at Northwestern. After coming back from Thanksgiving Break, I noticed that many of the large trees throughout campus had been decorated with white and purple lights to bring in the Christmas season. While the Chicago area won’t be getting a white Christmas this year, I was glad to spend part of the Christmas season on campus with friends and colleagues.

I simply wrote this to say hello from Los Angeles and to wish a merry Christmas to all those who celebrate. May this season bring happiness and peace to all of your homes!
