Grambling State University

The week of ( Sunday)January 22, 2023, was an abundantly productive week, the main focus of this week was to weigh in on my social media presence as a HistoryMaker for outreach purposes and to physically go to Educational Halls to get the word out about the contest and use of the HistoryMakers Digital Archive. I felt this week gained a lot of interest that will soon transition into more participants for my contest which will take place. This week, my accomplishments as a student ambassador here at GSU included: creating posts and segments on my Instagram page ( @historymakers.gramu) that pulled in student interaction. My posts included “ Iconic Black Women in the HistoryMakers Digital Archives”, and “ A Glimpse of Grambling" ( where I posted and created commentary of a clip of our 3rd University President talking about the history of GSU), '“Joseph “Joe” Dyers on Grambling State”, The HistoryMakers flyer, with access code included for access to the digital archive, “ HistoryMakers Tag of the Week” and Maya Angelou in the HistoryMakers Digital Archive. These creative segments have gained a good amount of student reaction from all “GramFam” I’ve also had multiple peers post the flyer and my HM social media on their page, our NAACP chapter posted the flyer on their story and got the Administrative Assistant of PAC Arts Building to send it out a mass email to professors to show to their students. I was also able to meet my advisor Dr. Edward Holt and Dean Webber, using them as recurring resources. I was also able to do a 9:30 am presentation with a Freshman history class, which also interested a couple of extra students from that class to attend the Carter G. Woodson History Club Body Meeting where I announced the contest and passed out flyers at.
