Ambassador Outreach for the Week of 2/20
Black History Month is unfortunately coming to an end. Due to this, Tierney and I have been working on providing more outreach for the archive and providing more context for those who are deciding to participate in the competition. As of now, we have eighteen students registered and are working towards increasing the number of submissions. This past Wednesday, we had an event where we provided registrants with whatever help was necessary for them to complete their submissions.
Previously, we also worked on our Black History Month presentation where we got four more students to register for the competition. Many of the students expressed that they wanted individual tutorials for The HistoryMakers archive, and we scheduled sessions with them.
For Black History Month, we strongly focused on ensuring that we are able to get more exposure for the archive. In that, we also posted Instagram videos in order to promote the archive and our contest. Some of the posts we decided to do were #FreshFridays, which were a result of a poll we did where we asked students what they wanted to see from us in terms of MusicMakers. The students decided they preferred rap, with R&B being a close second, and we started Fresh Fridays to show them rap artists within the archive.
Essentially, this week was mostly about helping students with their Black History Month submissions, and we have extended the deadline to Sunday to give students enough time. Unfortunately, we did no take into account that it was midterms week and therefore students would not be able to dedicate much of their time this week to their contest submissions.
