Grambling State University Student Ambassador Update
The running theme of this week was wrapping up my HistoryMakers Creative Contest. I am currently working on getting back the finished rubrics from my two student judges and my professor, and I am in contact with them. I have three participants who have submitted their creative talent and though I am not able to judge, I am impressed with the creative identity seen in just 3 of my Grambling peers. By the end of March, I will have all winners’ names and contact information submitted. Next week, starting on the 31st is the start of Grambling State’s Spring Break, so most of my outreach work will be after that period, not including the social media work I will be doing to close out Women’s History Month.
Continued Outreach Plan
3/27-3/31: Will be expanding on my “Iconic Black Women in the Digital Archives” segment and choosing more women to spotlight for the last week of Women’s History Month, also putting in clearance form for tabled event on the Yard when returning from Spring Break
4/13: Tabled event on the Yard where I will be giving out chosen prizes from the Bookstore ( team hat and two lanyards) to a small “Name that HistoryMaker” Game focusing on Grambling alum
4/15-17: Since April is Stress Awareness month, and it would be close to finals, I plan to do a social media segment that focuses on the Black Experience as it relates to mental health found in the Digital Archive
4/27: Plan to collaborate with our campus Fashion Club for “Fashion Revolution Week” ( celebrated 22-29) to highlight African American figures who have made their mark in Fashion
Closing out April!: I plan to do another social media contest where I will be compiling all social media outreach segments I’ve done as a student ambassador and doing a zoom trivia contest where I will be giving out a small prize to the winner of “HistoryMakers Trivia Night”
