Tuskegee University Ambassador Update

My goal for the reminder of the program is to lay a great foundation for the next cohort of ambassadors. With this being said, the plans that I have include becoming more consistent with The HistoryMakers Daily Trivia and the weekly Monday motivations. Social media is a great way to connect with college students. Not to mention, it isn’t limited to just social media. One of my new initiatives is to utilize the bulletin boards that Tuskegee University. My first board will be dedicated to HistoryMakers related to poetry for April being dedicated to Poetry.

Currently, I am taking Dr. Bratton’s Oral History course as an independent study and in our meetings, she is helping me structure a class based on The HistoryMakers to help students learn about the digital archive. Creating a curriculum and learning path based on Tuskegee Women HistoryMakers that have excelled in the past. In addition to the construction of the course, I want to finish out with my organization-presentations. I have completed over six visits so far on campus. The goal is to complete ten in total before the end of the school year.

During The HistoryMakers Advisory Educational Board meeting, one of my peers/ colleagues had a great initiative that would connect my work on campus to the local K-12 community and even the chance to get them to excel.
