Prairie View A&M University Ambassador Update

This has been a rough week at PV. My Black History Month Digital Archive contest did not go as well as expected. After all the student presentations, social media storms, staff meetings, and campus promoting, only 3 out of the 35 registrants have submitted to my contest.

The contest submission date was originally changed to March 5th, but due to low submissions, it is now due tomorrow night, March 10th. With this extension in mind, I did all I could this week. I spoke to my close friends who registered, reminding them to submit, and I spoke in three classes of Dr. Conrad’s students. Due to Dr. Conrad and I’s collaboration, her students already completed half of what my contest entails, so I knew that they were most capable of still submitting to me.

I did my best to motivate and inspire the classroom, but no luck so far. I believe, since this is midterm week, it is difficult for students to participate. Still, I am hoping more students will embrace this opportunity.

Regardless, my judges and I have been working with what we have. They are grading the three submissions according to my rubric while we wait for tomorrow’s deadline. Wish us luck!
